Perfect Your Smile with Botox or Juvéderm

Perfect Your Smile with Botox or Juvéderm

By:    |   Published November 15, 2016

You’ve taken great care of your teeth, and it shows. Your healthy, white smile lights up the room. Is there anything you can do to make your smile even more beautiful? Maybe. To add a dental twist to a well-known phrase – think outside the mouth. In this case, think about Botox in dentistry! You can perfect your smile with a Botox or Juvéderm treatment.

Why would a dental practice offer cosmetic services that don’t involve teeth and gums? Because at Schmakel Smile Design, it’s our business to help you have the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. But we understand that a beautiful smile extends beyond the teeth and gums. So we added Botox and Juvéderm treatments to enhance patients’ smiles and facial esthetics . In about an hour (maybe even over your lunch hour) you can have a fresher, younger-looking smile – one that you just may not be able to stop smiling about.

About Our Botox Treatments

What it is Botox?

Botox serum is derived from a protein produced by a particular form of bacteria. The protein, refined for medical and cosmetic uses, temporarily reduces muscle activity. While it’s best known for reducing the appearance of wrinkles, it has many other uses including combating migraine headaches and jaw pain caused by TMJ. It’s especially effective in softening wrinkles around the mouth, such as those caused by smoking.

What is involved in a Botox treatment?

When getting a Botox treatment for your lips, the serum isn’t injected into the lip itself; fine needles are used to direct it into the wrinkle lines around the lips, relaxing the muscles and reducing their appearance. Since the needles are extremely fine, most patients experience no, or very little, discomfort. Treatment usually takes only minutes, so you can immediately get back to your normal routine.

How long does a Botox treatment last?

The effects from one Botox treatment will last 3 to 6 months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. Usually, however, the lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles shrink.

How much is a Botox treatment?

Costs for Botox treatments varies, depending upon the extent of your treatment.

About our Juvéderm Dermal Fillers

What is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is the name of a group of injectable hyaluronic acid products used to soften the look of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid draws fluid to the treated area, plumping it and reducing the sign of aging. They’re particularly popular for softening the lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and for adding volume to the cheek area, giving it a subtle lift and helping to restore contour.

What’s involved in a Juvéderm Treatment?

Like a Botox treatment, Juvéderm is injected under the skin using a fine needle. All types of Juvéderm treatments we offer – Ultra Plus XC, (Extra Comfort) and Plus XC and Voluma XC – have a local anesthetic as an ingredient. Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is used in deeper folds, (such as nasolabial lines), whereas Juvéderm Plus XC is used in other areas such as the lips. Voluma XC adds volume to the cheek areas, which tend to flatten and leave skin sagging as we age. Each treatment only takes a matter of minutes.

How long does a Juvéderm treatment last?

Depending on the area treated, your skin and the injection technique, a Juvéderm Ultra Plus treatment will last approximately 6-9 months. A Voluma XC treatment typically lasts about 2 years.
