Different levels of sedation are available, depending on your needs.
Local anesthesia allows us to numb only the areas of your mouth and gums that require treatment. Sylvania Smile Designs utilizes local anesthesia in many of our procedures, such as fillings, implants, onlays, root canals, and other treatments. With local anesthesia, you'll stay awake and alert, but your mouth and gums will be numb.
Dr. Larry Schmakel may recommend a mild sedative in addition to local anesthetic. This type of oral sedation will relax you so that you don’t feel anxious or afraid. You will be conscious and awake during your procedure.
