Explosive Fun with MythBusters in Toledo!

Do you and your family love to watch MythBusters? We sure do! The show makes education very entertaining as its hosts set about proving or disproving some downright wild and crazy stuff. (And who doesn’t think Jamie’s mustache is epic? Seriously!)

MythBusters_logoMythBusters fans in Toledo and Lucas County will want to make a special trip to Imagination Station during the month of November. “MythBusters, The Explosive Exhibition” features the show’s real-life operations room filled with many of the gadgets, props, videos, and blueprints used by MythBusters’ hosts. You and your family will have the opportunity to apply the scientific method to uncover the truth behind many popular myths.

Have every wondered if you can really drive a car while blindfolded? Or hang from the edge of a cliff? Or even better, are you fast enough to dodge a speeding paintball? If you’re up for the challenge of proving or disproving these and other myths, then Explosive Fun with Myth Busters is just for you! Make a strip to Imagination Station, located at 1 Discovery Way at the corner of Summit and Adams Streets on the riverfront in downtown Toledo. Find hours, directions, and parking information online.

Take the Family to the Toledo Museum of Art

Central_building,_Toledo_Museum_of_Art,_Toledo,_Ohio_(66253)Did you know that there are more than 30,000 works of art close to home just waiting to be appreciated? You and your family can discover them at the Toledo Museum of Art. Of the many beautiful works of art to enjoy are American and European painting, as well as the history of art in glass, ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works. You and your family also can take in a variety of Asian and African art, medieval art, sculpture, decorative arts, graphic arts, and modern and contemporary art.

This November, check out the Museum’s Degas and the Dance. The exhibition centers upon the works of French Impressionist Edgar Degas (1834–1917). Here’s something rather interesting about Degas and his work: Even though he began studying dancers late in his career, the beautiful ballet imagery he immortalized in his many sculptures, paintings, pastels, prints, and photography makes up more than half his body of work. Now that’s true dedication to the dance!

The Museum promises Degas and the Dance to be an immersive experience that allows visitors to learn about and interact with the artist’s work. The exhibition, which runs from October 15 through January 10, 2015, is a collaboration with Toledo Ballet.

And speaking of the connection between art and dance, by sure to check out Toledo Museum of Art’s In Motion Works on Paper Gallery. Like Degas and the Dance, this exhibition features the visual and artistic elements of dancing as a form of expression. Viewing is available to you and your family through January 3, 2016, making November the ideal time to enjoy this and other Toledo Art Museum offerings!
